Emotionally flat from Risperdal - permanent?

Recommended Posts

I am not sure, never having taken Risperdal (sorry.) But I am pretty sure somebody else here has, and can maybe help answer your question.

Maybe there is something else you can try, besides Resperdal?

Have you told your P-doc this is happening?

Do you have a P-doc? If so, and if you told them, what did they say about it?

Hang in there.

I wish you well,

I haven't heard of that happening before, although it doesn't mean it's not possible. It might be worth looking at whether you're depressed before you worry more about the risperdal. What other medication are you on? Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Taking Lexa-Pro sound like a smart move. Hoping others answer, too. Good thing to ask your P-doc about it.

Lexa-Pro can take 3-5 weeks to "kick in" (I know because I'm on it.) But it does work for me. So be patient (I know this can be hard.) If it doesn't work, move on to trying another AD (that's what I'd do, anyway.)

Good luck.

I was on risperdal and/or invega for over two years. I know while on it, my emotions were blunted (not able to cry in extreme cases of emotional crisis, put a damper on my rage).

It sounds to me like a side effect of depression. At least the no motivation thing. That's usually the first to go for me when I'm depressed.

I don't think I'm emotionally flat now that I'm not on it. But like another poster said, that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Talking to your pdoc is the first step in figuring out if this is a symptom of depression or if it's something else.

Good luck.
