Im about sick of this S&#T!

Recommended Posts

For one, after doing SO WELL for MONTHS Im back in my 3am to 3pm sleep schedule. But thats not what Im tired of (exactly). I'm tired of it ALL.

I go to sleep at 3am, have an appt at 2pm, have to wake up at 1pm. I wake up after TEN hours of sleep and feel groggy and tired (but not falling asleep lethargic). I drive to my appt. and almost fall asleep driving. I actually at one point close my eyes and cant open them with my life for about 5 seconds. Which every second counts while driving this scares me! While turning a corner to go downtown where the office is I see (just what everyone loves) blue flashing lights follwed by a siren. Shit. I get pulled over. Apparently Im going 45 in a 30, to my surpise. But it gets better! Before he issues me a speeding ticket he asks a very farmiliar question cops ask me when I'm driving. "Have you been drinking?" I say no. He doesnt believe me!!! He makes me get OUT of the car and do my hundredth sobriety slash emberassing test on the side of the street down town. The usual, walk the line, follow my finger, etc. I pass of course and explain "Im just tired". He issues me the speeding ticket, no more questions, I go on my way. I get to the appt. groggy and tired. I sit in the counselors office and he starts asking me the normal questions and I reply normally. After about 30 min I suddenly get EXTREMELY lethargic like I just had taken 1200mg of Seroquel for the first time and fall asleep. I wake up after about 2min but so lethargic that Im slurring my words and CAN NOT walk in a straight line. My doctor cuts the visit short because apparently he thinks theres something wrong with me. I happily go to my car where I get in the back seat and fall asleep. FIFTHTEEN minutes later I wake up as normal as normal can be. Apparently my counselor came and knocked on the car window while I was sleeping and could not get the SLIGHTEST reaction out of me. He freaks out and calls my dad who works in town. Dad comes to me freaking out (again, me having no reaction to stimulus while sleeping happens oh so too often) and wants to take me home and leave my car there. I say no, Im fine. And I really am fine! And I drive home against dads wishes.

This has got to stop NOW. And NONE of my doctors have a clue to what is going on or what to do.

Well, tell your docs they have to think of something, so that it's at least safe for you to drive. Safety should be a concern. Tell them what happened there. They must have run across something like this, at some time, I'd think. This is serious.

Geez- do they wanna get sued?

Maybe they should put you in a sleep clinic...it could be diet, meds, a chemical imbalance...it is not safe for you to drive or use machinery until you get help, you could accidentally kill some one when you are driving.

Safety is definitely a concern. I talked about some of this before but this happened a couple of times after the last time I saw my specialist. Next time I'm printing this out and just handing it to my doctor and say "figure it out". Because this is quite enough.

could it be your medications are making you to drowsy to function?

just a thought.

The thing is Ive been having these sorts of problems before Im on the medication Im on now. It's just gotton increasingly worse.

Ive tried an over-nighter one time and I didnt sleep. I wonder if they have extended sleeping clinics? That could help big time. All of this has been touched upon before. My diet, my meds, my sleeping paterns. They cant figure anything out. But no Its not safe for me to drive or use machinery. But I have to drive myself to school. I just need to just plain out not drive when Im tired. It should be okay as long as I dont have an attack.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I think they do a day-time sleep study for narcoleptics (after a night-time one), but I don't know if they'd be willing to set one up for non-narcoleptics. In my opinion, they should. The only way I could fall asleep in a sleep lab would be if I'd been up all night and was scheduled in the morning. (Oddly enough, when I'm exhausted, it's easier for me to fall asleep in the morning than at night.)

Actually my last study was for Narcolepsy, and since I only slept in one of the intervals but hit REM I have a non-credible dx of Narcolepsy by symptoms only. So they just might take me. I'll have to look into daytime studies.
