Trilafon

Hi. I've been registered here for a while, but haven't posted in a long time.

I just got put on Trilafon (perphenazine) because I was starting to have symptoms of paranoia and increased anxiety.

Has anyone been on this stuff? I'm just curious as to what people's experiences have been like.

I hope to be back posting more regularly. I really do enjoy this forum.

I use perphenazine as a 'rescue' drug when I'm getting acutely manic or very depressed and a touch psychotic. I love it. Instant calm brain when manic (for whatever reason, my brain likes old cheap drugs, and Trilafon and Stelazine work better for me than AAPs) and it makes the evil stuff go away pronto.

Start low, go slow, and, I don't know... I was just very pleasantly surprised.

Can I ask what dose you take? My pdoc started me on 2mg BID.

For mania, I usually start at 2 mg BID - we've gone up a bit from there. For depression with psychosis, I can go down to 1 mg TID.

I haven't been on high doses/long term. As I said, rescue drug, as the psychosis is usually in the context of an affective episode.
