Hello all!

I understand that by extended release, they mean extended-release. Hehehe. Anyway, my pdoc gave me samples of seroquel XR 400 mg for sleep. I was wondering how long to take before bedtime to get a good night's sleep? Considering it's extended release? Anybody had any experience with this? Will it knock me out like a log? I use dto take only 100mg for sleep, now this is 400mg.

Thanks.

The XR didn't work for me for sleep. I had to go back to regular Seroquel. So, with regular Seroquel, I have to take it and immediately go to bed. If I stay awake, I get totally smashed to the point that I could fall over and hurt myself. I also get carb cravings that are intense. So, in my experience, it's best to take it RIGHT before you get in bed.

I checked I'm using the XR. Does it make any difference if you cut the pill in half. (release wise)

I'm new to the board. How do you put all that info below your posts?(rx Etc.)

Thanx

It's almost always not a good idea to cut sustained release formulations of drugs in half.

Ditto what VE said - sustained release pills generally have a special coating and aren't designed to be split.

Go to "My Controls" (link at the top right of the board), then "Edit Signature" under the Personal Profile heading on the left.
