Provigil and Cough?

Hi all,

Am I the only one who finds that Provigil (modafinil) makes one cough?

I couldn't find any reference to this in the literature. I know it's stated that Provigil causes asthma in 4% (i think) of the population. But I'm pretty damn sure that my cough is provigil-induced (or maybe provigil mixing with something else in my system). Ventolin would relieve it to some extent.

Any ideas?

Are you getting any reflux/GERD symptoms with the Provigil?

The GERD/asthma interplay would explain cough.

Events for which the PROVIGIL incidence was at least 1%, but equal to or less than placebo are not listed in the table. These events included the following: infection, pain, accidental injury, abdominal pain, hypothermia, allergic reaction, asthenia, fever, viral infection, neck pain, migraine, abnormal electrocardiogram, hypotension, tooth disorder, vomiting, periodontal abscess, increased appetite, ecchymosis, hyperglycemia, peripheral edema, weight loss, weight gain, myalgia, leg cramps, arthritis, cataplexy, thinking abnormality, sleep disorder, increased cough, sinusitis, dyspnea, bronchitis, rash, conjunctivitis, ear pain, dysmenorrhea4, urinary tract infection.

Increased cough was reported, but was equal or less common than placebo. Also found in the regular table that Rhinitis and Pharyngitis were commonly reported. Post nasal drip from both of those could aggravate asthma symptoms and also increase coughing.

I find the exact same thing. Not a deep or strong cough, but just a little one. I don't use it regularly just when needed for wakefulness due to my work schedule.
