Wellbutrin XL

Recommended Posts

I just started Wellbutrin XL yesterday morning. I think it may be making me mildly sleepy but I'm not sure. I slept really well last night. I'm wondering if people tend to take it more in the mornings or evenings, and if so why?

Wellbutrin is metabolized to multiple active molecules, so in time it should not matter when you take it as long as you take it the same time every day. If you're not sure it's making you sleepy in the morning but otherwise it works, there's always morning coffee to wash it down with.

Otherwise, sleepy meds in the evening, wakey meds in the morning ;)

So if it is making me sleepy that should wear off after I get used to it?

I take it in the morning, too. I think that it can take 6-8 weeks of taking any drug for side effects to tone down. But WB XL never made me sleepy. My first couple of days on it felt kinda speedy.

I miss speed.

oops. Off topic.

I would wait a few weeks before switching the time you take it.

olga

Um... You know how there's always that 1-in-10 person that's really screwed up?

Three guesses how I know that some folks can wash it down with amphetamine and a double espresso every day and not have any trouble getting sleep afterwards. ;)

I think we have to keep the goal in mind when taking meds. On the whole, they should cause a net improvement in your life. And we all know that meds tend to affect different people differently.

So, I think that means that sometimes we have to do a bit of tweaking with the details, to get the best possible outcome for us. I'm not taking about changing doses or stopping meds... you need to talk to a doctor for that. But do pay attention to the particular effect a drug has on you. If it makes you sleepy, take it at night. If it perks you up, take it in the morning. And if it's causing problems, put some thought into how it can be improved.

Personally, I found that Wellbutrin XR perked me up so well that I couldn't sleep at night, regardless of when I took it. So I had a chat with my doc and switched to SR. And then took both tablets in the morning, instead of morning and evening (this was oked by my pdoc, though he says he has to write morning and evening on the instructions). I've been on it for years now, and am still delighted with its effects. It does still perk me up, but that's a good thing in the morning!

I find that realy interresting...Because I use to take two dosage, one in the mornig and one at nigth and now I'm taking 300mg in the morning. But I read somewhere that it's suppose to be slpit in two. Anyone knows about this?

Ciao Jo
