BPCharlotte
My hubby had this, but then he has found that any combination of ADs/APs/AEs and alcohol seem to have this effect on him. To be fair, he has this even when NOT drinking, it's just far more pronounced when he does. The standard line is of course "don't drink alcohol while taking this medication" but we all know that the effects are different for different people. My advice would be : if you feel you HAVE to drink, you should be telling your doctor about it, not just because of the potential effects on medication effectiveness and your amnesia, but because if you feel the need to drink that much that you would risk this happening, I'd hazard a guess that you could do with a different med regime as something is obviously not quite right with how you are feeling. If you reckon you could do without drinking, do it. Alcohol really confuses things when we are dealing with MH problems, much as it pains me to say it... :S I'm guessing that's not really what you wanted to hear, but it is what it is. I have to say, I'd rather get drunk than live in my "reality" sometimes, and socially it is hard not to drink sometimes, but it depends on how much it is affecting you. Personally, it's something I'm weighing up and I will probably decide not to drink, only to fall off the wagon the next weekend
