So i was feeling a little crazy...

Recommended Posts

...and thought i'd seek some company. A few days of lurking around here have proved that i was looking for some like minds; i didn't know i needed this sort of thing until i found it. Thanks, CrazyBoards founders, moderators and members, you were just what i needed.

I'm an artist and a writer. I have a cat, a rabbit and a yarn addiction. I make things that don't exist yet, but should, and then i sell them. I often ignore the internet as a result of some awful thing i read on wikipedia or CNN or if i'm throwing a Luddite temper tantrum or if the webs go down in my house and i don't want to put on pants to go to the coffee shop down the street. Most often, it's because of the pants.

I don't have an official current diagnosis but a long time ago i was told i was Bipolar 1. I was very young--i think some things slipped through the cracks. Regardless, BP's always been the assumption and looking back on my life, looking around my life now, i can understand. It often makes sense, in that, i often don't make any sense at all. Though i'm guessing this is not an entirely popular choice here, and though i do not promote this as the right decision for other people to make, i am not medicated and don't have a Pdoc. I don't carry on about my unmedicated state, i am not anti-meds nor anti-psychiatry. I think whatever a person has to do to get busy living is the right thing for them.

I've been in therapy, group therapy, counseling, support groups, coping classes (a title which i always thought was a little crappy), urgent care, inpatient observation, The System, the bat cave, and other dark places not so illustrious. Most of that happened before i started living by a schedule and a strict rulebook, which is how i stay alive. It's been a little tougher lately so i'm trying to expand my support system. Just reading some of the posts and quotes and rants and shares has helped. Sometimes i forget how nice it is to not feel so unique in my distress. So, thanks again, for being here.

Welcome to the board! :)

You'll find there are all sorts of opinions here about meds/pdocs, so no need to feel awkward about not going down that route. As you said, whatever works is good, and we are all different. There's more than one way to skin a cat, etc etc...

What I love about this place is that you don't feel like you have to tread on eggshells. (unless that's what does it for you! lol) It's easy to be here, and easy to feel like you belong.

I'll say this now, I do tend to talk a load of b******s from time to time. Moodswings and all that. So apologies in advance if any of my posts are not particularly coherent! ;)

I'm really curious. What are the things you make that don't exist yet, but should? Do you knit them?

Welcome aboard. ;)

You've piqued my curiosity as well. Welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the welcomes.

Hmm, curiosity piqued. Awesome.

I crochet and knit foods, human organs, and creatures; the last was a little dragon-worm with horns wearing an eyepatch.

I print and screenprint notecards, stationery, and hand-colored prints and i sell them at the M

thunderstorm: aww, you picked one i haven't worked out a pattern for yet. i'm working on an amigurumi brain and brain hat. i'm actually in the process of getting an etsy shop up and running. i'll try to add it to my profile here once it's full of goodies.

liveoak, et al.: you can see some pictures of my (not-so-current) work in my myspace photo albums. but, like i said, most of it is either on sale at the M
