psychocandy
My doc seemed a bit unsure about this... He suggested, one week on 20mg (currently on 40mg), then nothing. Does this sound acceptable?
Artemisia
I didn't have trouble coming off Celexa, but then it didn't do anything to me at all (i.e., it wasn't effective). With my other antidepressants, though, I was grateful that my doctor let me do it super-slow. Isn't the lowest available dose of Celexa 5 mg? Of course you may be just fine on your doctor's schedule. Yeh. Same here. I've come off loads of other SSRIs in the past (Prozac, Paxil, Remeron, Effexor, Cymbalta) which were equally ineffective and had no withdrawal problems at all. None of these antidepressants worked? Well, actually, I have a friend who's been on a ton of SSRIs and SNRIs. I think she's seeing a therapist of some sort, though. She's only dysthymic right now. Have you perhaps tried Abilify (aripiprazole) (I don't know what it's called in the U.K.)? It's technically an antipsychotic, but rumors are that it works better on depression than on psychosis. bluelikejazz
If you have come off them easily then it's probably ok to try. If you run into problems you can always bump up the dose again and do it slower. It seems unusual to have tried that many ssri's. I tried two ssri's, one snri and then Remeron. thunderstorm
oh god, coming off cipramil/celexa was hell for me. I cant remember the dosage (It *was* 10 years ago) but my GP had me stop cold turkey. - I lost my depth perception. No really. I couldnt tell where in 3D space anything lie - I got brain zaps - I felt like a low-level current was being run through my body. All my nerves HURT. that was a shit couple of weeks. That horror story out of the way, if you dont feel comfortable with the schedule he's set, take it slower. YBMV.
