Does anyone have any experience with extrapyramidal symptoms with Seroquel? I've been on it for a few months now and developed a neck twitch and in the recent period, trouble moving my neck and upper back, which is causing pain all the way down into my hands. Has anyone else had this issue? My pdoc is prescribing cogentin to help me move again.

I don't want to makes waves but... ah hell... *splashes around a bit*... Is seroquel the only thing that helps and is working? I mean, if it's THE drug, then I would say you may be better off staying with it than not, but that's still a maybe. You have to weigh your options.

If it's not THE one in a million drug that is a miracle, you might want to consider finding something else.

I get twitchy on abilify and it has done a lot for me but it's not like out of control or big twitches and I don't have trouble moving things. But if it cause the kinds of things you are describing I would seriously consider dropping it. I can't honestly say that I definately would because I'm not there yet, but I would seriously consider it.

Just my two cents.

it is definitely not the IT drug and I will be coming off of it once cogentin gets the muscle stiffness under control. I just don't know how much longer I'll still be on the seroquel before that can happen. And I guess it was one kind of concern when it was just the twitchiness and stiffness, but as the days progressed it's just become so painful. I really can't wait to be off of it at this point.

I seem to be having just awful results with side effects. Prior to this I was on risperdal and that very nearly was my IT drug; it made me feel a lot better and small adjustments brought the desired change when necessary. And then I started lactating and that was the end of that. So I don't know where I'm moving next. I really need a lower side effect profile.

Most people I know who've taken it have found Seroquel a wonder pill to start with, then it either stops working or gives such bad effects as to be intolerable. Such a shame really, when it starts out so great. I really thought it was the bomb for me - thought I'd be stable on it forever. Bah.

Interesting about Risperdal for you... I've heard of the lactating... My p-doc won't prescribe it not because of that but because he is treating people with Tardive Dyskinesia caused by it.

I guess all the atypicals carry a small risk of EPS type symptoms, but a lot less than the typicals. I'm no expert & I can't advise you which way to go but I'm sure your p-doc can suggest some options. Good luck.
