Guest Guest_goose_*
I'm actually hoping for the weight loss side effect, but so far what I have experiences is a kind of wierd insomnia -- I fall asleep easily but wake up every hour to hour and a half. It is strange, I'm wide awake but am able to go back to sleep. With previous insomnia once I was up, I was up. But I think this cycling is messing with my REM. I am having major bizarro dreams. Had been on Lexapro and loved it for GAD and depression but gained twenty pounds in 6 months. Pristiq seems to work well for both anxiety and depression. Years ago I had been on Prozac and in three days I was seriously having waves of rage. I surf for everyone's input but I don't think you can predict how your body will react. I'm on day 7 and have definitely been having STRANGE DREAMS!!! really vivid and I can remember feeling passionately about what was going on in my dream. Like one of my dreams I was yelling at these people to get out of my house and I can remember feeling really angry towards them!!! I used to be on the nicotine patch and I would get weird dreams like this all the time. However as I took the patch longer the dreams got more weird and scary like nightmares. I pray to god it doesn't happen with this med!!! urgh!
Guest babyhead
I am new to this whole depression medication thing and can't tell what works and does'nt. I can totally relate to to crazy actually disturbing dreams on Pristiq. I am happy to know I am not the only one.I know that when I tried Prozac I literally felt as though I was taking a placebo no difference whatsoever. I am starting to feel a little more like myself on Pristiq so a guess that is good. I guess I can take a sleeping pill for the insomnia crazy dreams thing. As far as weight gain I am always trying to lose weight but am having a harder time losing it right now.
LA-G
Been on Pristiq for about 9 months, and the dreams don't go away. Plenty of "WTF was that?" dreams. Most of mine involve some type of conflict/violence, like someone walking towards me menacingly that results in me waking up shouting "I'll kill you!!" or something. Other popular "dreams" have me running from somebody. Big fun. These dreams also usually result in me waking up bathed in sweat. I assume that this is just the "fight or flight" syndrome going haywire. I AM a medical Marijuana user, smoking some before sleep does help with this side effect, luckily. Still there are times I wake about 3 in the morning drenched, shaken and wondering, WTF???

I am only on Prestiq for 10 days and before that efexor - do you still prestiq helps (how long did it take) and how do you deal with the dreams - on effexor and prestiq I have disturbing dreams that I wake up from feeling very upset

Do you feel the prestiq helps enough for the dreams to be worth it - I have only been on for 10 days so feel so better effects, but I wake up so upset from the dreams
iguanita
I had really weird and vivid dreams the entire time I was on Pristiq. That was the most consistent side effect for me.
Guest Jenn
I've been on Pristiq for about 1 year and I'm thinking it's about time to make a change. The disturbing dreams and night sweats have decreased only to be replaced by increased irritability, rage, and severe fatigue. Also, I would advise you to always check the side effects information yourself. I usually do but relied on my doc this time who told me my increased anxiety was NOT a result of the medicine. I will wean with a doctors help. I've been on ADs for 13 years, but this is my first dual action drug. I do not like it.
Guest lorat
I have been on Pristiq for almost 7 months, and at first it was great. Gradually, I started having the weird dreams. They were so vivid, that I would wake up the next morning feeling like I had been in a movie. Then, in the last month or so, I've experienced rage, extreme fatigue, isolating, and generally if I don't "have" to do something, I just sit on the couch like a lump. I feel as if the Pristiq is no longer working for the depression, but the strange dreams are still there. I am seriously considering trying to taper off, am not sure what my doctor will say. If you don't have an outside reason for the changes in mood, it's best to go ahead and schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss it all, regardless of how you feel about the med(s). obsessed
I've been taking Pristiq for a month and half. It’s being used to treat my GAD, which it has been very effective in doing. I’ve had insomnia my entire life. And as far as dreams were concerned, they were never vivid or memorable. Since taking Pristiq, however, that’s changed. I’m not experiencing what others report, but I think I’m actually dreaming like a 'normal person.' It’s not bothersome, but definitely different and notable. Guest ascad
I have been taking pristiq for about 1 week and have been having bad dreams! Screaming, kicking, up during the night and waking up soaked with sweat. I feel worse when I get up for the day rather then refreshed. Is it worth it?????? Guest pwest
The dreams I am having since I started taking Pristiq a week ago have been crazy, bizarre, alarming and upsetting. I'm exhausted by the time I get up. I feel like I'm living a whole nuther life when I sleep. I could write movie scripts on these dreams they are so intense and bizarre. I think I need to get my meds changed.
.:::tara:::.
Yep, ive been on pristiq 4 a yr and the dreams and nightmares are still occuring. I am also on lithium, but i find since taking my pristiq above 100mg the nightmares become more vivid.
Guest Marilyn
My dreams were fun at first, but now I'm tired of them. I'm not even sure they are dreams because the thoughts start before I'm sleeping. I also find it hard to get out of bed because I prefer my alternate life. This is not good. Happyday19
Totally relate to what you are all saying about these dreams. I am so glad I found you all because I really thought it was just me and my pristiq journey into some major weird shit every night. WTH is right. Geez.... some nights my dreams are quite intriguing and I want to keep dreaming to see what happens. The other night I had a dream where I could have probably sold to a movie producer (can't remember all of it now through). I think I've only had one dream that was all good and fun. The rest are disturbing on different levels. I've found that the affects of the dream create my mood for the day. I don't like that either. I almost dread going to bed at night, can't get to sleep & then want to just sleep in the daytime. I still dream, but not as crazey. Other than the dreams, I actually liked this med. Chiaroscuro
I've been on Pristiq for at least 3 years & not had weird/upsetting dreams as a side effect. But I do go through stages where I'll have more vivd dreams for a few weeks, then back to "normal" dreams for a few months, then it all starts again...
