RunningFox
Has this happened to ANYONE??? I noticed that there seemed to be a correlation between the nights I took Ambien and the next day when my eating habits would be absolutely out of control. It was just mindless eating whether I was hungry or not, like I had just smoked a whole bunch of pot (I don't smoke, for the record) and had the munchies... and I would continue to eat even after I felt reallllly full!! I am usually quite the opposite, with no desire to eat whatsoever, even when I'm truly hungry and my stomach is growling... it's because I take Vyvanse. But every day after I took the Ambien, I was an eating machine, and it freaked me out, especially because I was eating all junk food. I started buying Oreos and Cheez-its and sugary cereal which I HATE.. but I was craving all of it and couldn't stop eating once I started!! I stopped taking it for awhile because I didn't see a difference in my awakefulness, but I took one the other night, and lo and behold, I ate like a pig the next day. Oddly enough, during the time I was taking Ambien regularly, I tried on a pair of old jeans that are a size smaller than my current size and they fit really well, so who the HELL knows. Anyway, I've decided to stop taking the Ambien all together because it makes me hallucinate a lot and do things without remembering.. I also get eating attacks right after I take it. Which is unsafe because I run the risk of not chewing my food up enough and then choking and dying. So has anyone else experienced this or am I one of the only people who fit into the "rare" sections on the side effects list?
Raquin
I've experienced it a couple of times, and I know it does that to my stepfather. I think it's actually common enough that it has now been included in the TV commercials. I'm pretty surprised Ambien is still around, to be honest. Deepster
RunningFox- Ambien.......hhmmmmph! Just wait til you've had the "comatose munchies" and wake up the next morning finding your kitchen counters strewn with cereal, pizza slices, pastas of many varieties, and a gallon of milk gone! It happens. Hope you are able to get this under control, but one thing for sure I found out is that Ambien is not the "sleeping aide" for me! RunningFox
Haha! I was really worried I was going to wake up to find some sort of kitchen mess, actually! Luckily I don't have that much food to experiment with in my sleep because I'm a college student and can't afford to buy/spend time making something more than a bowl of cereal... I do always have eggs, though, which could be disastrous 5 minutes after taking a pill, I would start compulsively stuffing food in my mouth.. whatever it was I could get at... every morning I'd wake up and there would be another box of food in my room. At the end of the week my cubbord was pretty much emptied out because most of my food was in my room! Piggy Piggy! I don't think this is a good drug for me, either... I don't like doing things and not realizing it! It wasn't helping what it was supposed to help anyways, so I'm not gonna miss it.
