brokenrecord
Nausea diahreahha, and... raging erections in the middle of the night, this might be TMI but they are so bad they wake me up and stretched the skin to the point where it's raw and painful. I had been experiencing loss of libito because of my depression/stress, not even "morning wood" but by my 3rd day on lexipro I started having the above problems, and even managed to have sex with my wife 3 times yesterday (though she still wants me to move out) is it even possible to have side effects after such a short time on a med? A quick review of the patient information sheet for Lexapro reveals this: "Priapism has been reported with all SSRIs. " With many of the crazymeds, there are uncomfortable side effects. In many cases, these ease up after you have been on the drug for 3-4 weeks, or maybe a little longer. If you find the side effects unbearable, I would definitely call the doctor to discuss it. The nausea and diarrhea are something I have heard many people mention with anti-depressants. If you can't find a copy of the patient information sheet from your prescription bottle, here's a link. It might be helpful if you read the PI stuff. http://www.crazyboards.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10833 olga

It's just that I'm... ugh.. how do I put this... getting bigger than I was before (my wife even noticed this and commented on it) when I would become erect and the pain/discomfort is actually from stretched skin - I had no problems "function" wise with my wife other than the before mentioned discomfort. Stickler
Make sure you are taking your meds with food, they will burn the hell out of your stomach otherwise. I find that candied ginger is super for nausea, and loperamide hydrochloride, an over-the-counter anti-diarhheal, is very effective for the trots. Interesting about the priapism-many people, including yours truly, find that SSRI's lower the sex drive.
N&P
Ok, not to be too "open" but my husband has the same problem and he's not on any meds. I was wondering if he's having a surge in testosterone.... He's 44...How old are you?

I was wondering if he's having a surge in testosterone.... He's 44...How old are you? I'm 34, I have been going to the gym for the last month and working out 2/3 time a week, so maybe it could be higher testosterone, it was just odd to me because it's never happened like that before - I used to constantly work out at least 3 times a week for several years, it used to help slightly with my depression. ArtBuf88
When I was rockin the LEX is was soooo great! You Got to stick it out for the First 3 weeks or so and then you'll feel better. But if it's just not tailorable try Celexa, There like the brother and sister Meds! Do something Physical, go out for a walk, don't sit around and watch TV. I have MAD also and you don't get better by chillin out. Just a Walk can Help! Good luck! ~Ray

anonymousMan
I started Lexapro a week ago. I also started Buspar at the same time. I am trying to kick benzo's (was on by slowly tapering them and starting these meds. I have serious insomnia and used to take Ambien CR and still do when I absolutely can't sleep. Anyway, since starting the Lexapro and the Buspar I have been waking with persistant erections that will eventually go away if I get up, shower, or do something somewhat active, but if I try to go back to sleep they come back. I am scared of priapism occuring while I sleep...so that only makes my anxiety worse about sleep. Any ideas as to which would be more likely to cause priapism? Am I really experiencing priapism? Thanks for any help
