Tannor
I have depression and ocd and use to be on zoloft which worked great for the longest time then pooped out, had no side effects at all! perfect AD Was switched to Lexapro, worked well for depression but had vivid nightmares all the time...then moved to Wellbutrin and that gave me more weird side effects and did not help at all with the depression so now on Luvox CR. Luvox CR seems to be working for depression/ocd BUT one really bad side effect...which is in the sexual area and i cannot take it anymore. So not sure what to try next? should i tried some of the old ones? paxil? prozac? i heard some horror stories about those? I am also on topamax and klonopin as well btw Thanks
Greenyflower
You didn't mention what the Wellbutrin side effects were, but it's frequently used as an add-on to SSRIs to help with the sexual issues.

tryp
I like Remeron a lot - it's a newer one, and so it doesn't have too many nasty side effects, especially the dreaded sexual ones. It's helped my anxiety and my depression, and even though I'm still crawling up the walls on it, I think I'd be a lot worse off OFF it. I take it with low dose Seroquel, which is also good for anxiety stuff, apparently.
Velvet Elvis
Second to Luvox, Paxil is probably the best SSRI for anxiety issues. It can have some sexual side effects though. I had OK luck with Cymbalta for OCD. I'm presently taking celexa and it seems to be working OK. I've found antipsychotics work better for the intrusive thought side of OCD. Why are you taking the Topamax? Have you found it helping with your OCD? I'm taking it for tics but was to surprised to find it helping my OCD a bit. tryp
What dose of 'Quel did you try? Funny thing with that drug is that for a lot of people it's MORE sedating at a lower dose. For me personally, it does nothing for me below or above 150 mg, but at that sweet spot I don't usually have nighttime PTSD symptoms. If I were you, I'd seriously consider Seroquel with an anti-depressant. You could probably find a dose that wouldn't zombify you. VE obviously has more experience with the OCD go-round than I do, but if you're really worried about the SEs, Remeron is a damn good drug, with or without the 'Quel (except that it will probably zombify you at first, especially if you start at 15 mg. That dose is like a brick to the head)

Velvet Elvis
Remeron won't do as much for OCD. Remeron and Paxil can't be mixed.
AnneMarie
Were you taking Seroquel during the day or at night? When taken at night, it often takes two to three weeks for the daytime sedation to wear off. If taken during the day, fa'getaboutit unless you are manic. Velvet Elvis
How much sleep time were you allowing yourself on seroquel? If you allow yourself 12-14 hours and drink a few cups of coffee (I found that it negated the caffine jitters) it can be tolerable. I just started 2mgs risperdal which is hitting me much more mildly than I thought it would. I can barely tell it's there.

I wish I can give myself 12-14 hours of sleep...if i did that means i would have to hit the bed exactly as soon as i got home from work
Tannor
ok just got back from pdoc she does not want to take me off luvox right away since it is helping with OCD i was taking luvox cr 150 so she thinks maybe we should lower the dosage and not take the cr version, so for now i am going to take 50mg twice a day, and then she added cymbalta 30mg a day, and next time she sees me if things are going well to lower luvox even more she is thinking maybe only need a little luvox to help control the ocd and use cymablta for depression and hopefully get rid of the bad sexual side effects will see what happens
