anyone like xanax xr over klonopin?

Guest klonopin versus xanax xr?

Recommended Posts

I take Xanax .5mg three times a day PLUS I take 1mg at night along with .5mg Klonopin. The Xanax does not seem to sedate me (much) but the combination of the two make me fall asleep pretty fast. Trouble is, I wake up several times a night so although I fall asleep fast, I can't STAY asleep.

BTW, I could care less if it's addicting. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I'm a huge fan of Xanax XR, at least compared to Klonopin. It's the only thing that's ever done anything for my anxiety. Unfortunately, even at the lowest possible dose, it's still too sedating for me and makes me sleep more than half the day. Better than Klonopin was for me, though, which also made me sleep a lot but additionally made me clumsy and forgetful on top of that, all without helping anything. They can all be different for different people, and that's just what happened for me, etc. etc.

But anyway, the short answer is yes. Heh.

I hate xanax, I used to take it, I built up a tolerance and discontuation was very uncomfortable.

Klonopin is better besause it has a longer true half life. Also it's not as addictive to me.

I wish there was an extended release klonopin.

Xanax XR was a good idea...

Have you tried trazodone? It's good for sleep and mixes well with benzos.

I totally agree with you. Since starting Pristiq over 3 months ago, the only SE that simply would not go away was sleep(all other SEs were very minor, and short lived). Last week my pdoc prescribed me trazodone. On some nights it works OK, but on those REALLY tuff nights I can add as little as .25mg to the traz, and it's lights out. Though some people report major grogginess with trazodone, and even the "trazodone hangover". I have experience no more grogginess than normal, and have definitely no "hangover". This is the right combo for me for a great nights sleep....even with as little as 5 hours of shut-eye. I was also given a scrip for Ambien which I have yet to fill.
