So I've been perusing CrazyMeds for about a week now and feel the need for a bit more support, as that is not exactly a support group. I'm relatively new to the whole MI thing, so I have a lot of questions and more or less feel like a nuisance on the other board. Nothing at all against them or anything. :) I don't need to be coddled, but discussing something other than meds is probably a good idea for a new diagnosee.

I say that I'm "relatively" new to mental illness b/c I just got diagnosed with bipolar disorder, ADHD and borderline personality disorder. I'm a psychology major, the daughter of a nurse and a behaviorist, and have had my own suspicions, but now that an objective third party has given me his opinion, I feel like I know nothing about MI.

I tend to be long-winded so if that gets obnoxious, just give me a nice cyberslap and I'll try to knock it off. ;)

Nice to "meet" everyone.

Hey Andrea,

Welcome to CB!

I feel the same way about crazymeds/crazyboards too and it turns out that this board ended up being my #1 support and resource when it came down to it-- it's the one that I've stuck with for a couple years now (and it's stuck with me...there's a lot of really great people here.)

I'm also a writer of looooong posts (see signature below) and people around here haven't thrown me out yet, so I think you'll be fine. Hope to hear more from you,

m

Hi andrea!

I'm studying psychology too. It's strange/neat/interesting to be studying some of this stuff while one is actually experiencing it.

It's nice to have you here. Feel free to ask about anything on the boards or PM an admin or mod if you wish.

I know it can be kind of confusing to have a new diagnosis [even if you kind of "know" that something is wrong], and there are a lot of helpful people here. If you want to, you can try searching the boards to see if there are relevant threads as well.

Stop by the blogs, if you're interested, and say hi sometime.

Luna

Oh yeah! My dad said to me, "Whenever you take Abnormal Psych, you're gonna think you have everything, so try to resist the temptation to do that." I'll totally do it anyway, but that's beside the point. ;) But definitely, it's interesting to learn it from an academic standpoint and then experience it for myself. As it happens, I'm doing my Cognitive Psych project on ADHD, something I was just diagnosed with! LOL, what a coincidence!

Thanks, guys, for the welcome. :)

P.S. I overuse the emoticons as well. Hehe.
