Med Cocktails We Love

Recommended Posts

My current med cocktail is keeping me stable through some rough times. I sweat a lot due to the anafranil pdoc added last week, but I am already seeing it's benefits. My cocktail combo is listed in my signature, and it's the best combo I've been on since being diagnosed about six years ago. Please share some good news about your cocktail here!

I kinda won't shut up about my cocktail, so this thread is perfect scatty, thanks

;)

the following are the meds that have kept me completely out of depression for MORE than a YEAR now...

I almost wanted to have a party on the anniversary of when I realized that I wasn't depressed anymore,

buuut I couldn't think of what I'd write on the invitations "Happy Meg Doesn't Wanna Off Herself Day!!"

here it goes:

LAMICTALLLLLLLLLL! 100mg

Wellbutrin XL 450mg

Sertraline (Zoloft) 150mg

Adderall XR 20mg

Adderall IR (generic) 30mg

Atenalol 25mg

(to kick the worst of the tremor from Lamictal)

uh, can you tell that Lamictal was the one that finally made me 'me' again for the first time since grade school?

so there's the cocktail that I love. like all great loves, we make some compromises (hand tremors from Lamictal when I'm a makeup artist and photographer...dry mouth from each and every med to the point that I can't lick a stamp 5min after drinking water...joints that snapcrackleandpop like rice krispies...and adderall that doesn't quite keep me awake but is the best I can find at the moment).

but so worth it.

hang in there if you're still looking for the right meds-- sometimes you get lucky.

I'm currently loving my cocktail, though I'm a bit suspicious of it:

6mg Invega

5mg Abilify

100mg Lamictal

2mg Clonazepam

2mg Biperiden

I'm emotioanlly stable now. External events don't affect me that much. Just the occasional sadness and giddiness, but not depression or hypomania...

I think my current cocktail is working fine, except my f'ing pdoc wants me to drop the seroquel. It's 200mg lamictal, 30mg abilify, 50mg seroquel, and clonazepam prn. It's kicked depression's ass, and I'm not manic, so there ya go. As close to stable as I think I'm going to get.

I've found a little bit of an AP does me a world of good when added to my usual dose of Wellbutrin. It keeps those pesky highs out of there without making me dull or slow-feeling, like a stabilizer made me feel. So a wee bit of Geodon with Wellbutrin = a fairly "normal" me.

I'm suspicious of it, because I don't know why I have to be on 2 AAPS at once. And the reason why he didn't take me off abilify is because it's supposed to counteract any negative side effects of invega on me. My pdoc was quoting a study done on clozaril and abilify. I don't know.. just doesn't sound right to me.

I love my current cocktail... if I can only stop taking over the counter medicines that screw it up, and if life would stop throwing curve balls at me that send me into spins... but this cocktail has kept me from going manic for a LONG time and it's kept me from going into that deep dark suicidal hell for over two years now. I've had some minor mood swings, but hell, I think I've had reason. I won't blame it on the meds not working. I think if I hadn't been on these meds at those times I won't be here now.

I've been mostly stable for several months *knocks on wood*. My current coctail is:

Lamictal 150 am; 200 pm

Seroquel 50 am; 100 pm; 50 prn

Klonopin .5 am; .5 pm-slowly tapering to go on it prn.

is it me or are there a disproportionate number of people with lamictal or wellbutrin (or both) in their cocktails?

There seems to be. When lamictal works, it really works! I take wellbutrin when depression gets bad and so do many with BP cause it's less likely to trigger mania than SSRIs. So maybe that's why it's so popular around here.

I'm happy to see all these good news posts about meds. Keep 'em coming. If you're stable, don't be shy, tell us what is working for you!

There seems to be. When lamictal works, it really works!

Seems that way, huh? :)

Warning, this next thought is dumb:

I kinda love that I have one of each class (in a way, depressionwise), wellbutrin, a classic SSRI, lamictal, adderall. Just realized I have no AAP and that's okaaaay w/me. And that rhymed.

I mean, I don't *love* taking this many meds, but my cocktail seems nice and balanced to me, is that weird? Probably. IDK.

I'm tired. Sorry for the obnoxious exclamation points and bold/italic stuff in my last post, lol. I just read through and mine sticks out like crazy. Whoops. I'm just passionate about Lamictal. ;)

ITA.

This post is really good on the hope angle,

*and* really good on the psychology nerd angle.

Both of which are awesome.

I'm annoying myself now, man I have to sleep...keep posting!
