AnneMarie
April is too far away. Your Lamictal dose has room to go up and so does your Abilify. There are other meds, too. I think that tomorrow, if you feel the same, calling the back up person would be good to do. The person is there for this type of stuff, and there's is no reason to stay feeling miserable because you worry about a phone call.

thwarted perfectionist
Hey ruttentud, are you taking generic Lamictal (lamotrigine) or brand-name Lamictal? Just wondering, because I had a bad experience with the generic. What you are describing sounds a lot like how I felt when I was on it. Anyway, I am very sorry that you have to deal with this shit. It is the worst kind of hell there is. Please call someone right away if you're still feeling suicidal, and don't let them try to put you off or give you any crap. scatty
I agree to call your pdoc or the emergency #. Your meds probably need to be adjusted.
ruttentud
i'm on generic i called my pdoc, was leaving a message and i think he picked up...then something weird happened. so i called back and left a message and just said 'well i dont know wtf just happened but this is very unpleasant and i dont know whats going on please call me back if you aren't on vacation.' or i just need an AD added on. i dont know. the klonopin helps, but its just a mask. i hate this. and its a vicious cycle. i meet people, eventually they find out about my MI issues...ask if i'm anorexic and the awkward silence gives it away, then i swing down and talk to them because as everybody says "talk to people and dont be alone when you're feeling like hurting yourself" then they just get freaked out when i tell them i cut myself and they don't want anything to do with me because i'm too much to handle then i go even lower.... it sucks. in the words of the great bob dylan - there must be some kind of way out of here more importantly i hate myself
beetle
Hey, just wanted to share my recent lamictal experience with ya. Your experience may differ but since you said you're feeling worse... I titrated up to 100mg of lamictal and stayed there for about a month. I felt horrible. Bone crushing fatique, depression seemed worse, uncontrollable crying spells (I mean outright sobbing for no apparent reason), and oddly enough sinus and sneezing problems (it was like I was having spring allergies, it has stopped since I stopped lamictal). So anyway, pdoc decided that since I hadn't seen any improvment after a month at 100mg that it was time to drop it and move to something else (trileptal). Personally, I don't think she gave it a fair trial, even though I was feeling like shit. Who knows if we went up to 150 or 200 it might just have worked. I've read on here people saying that they had to hit their sweet spot with lamictal. I don't feel I was given a chance to try to find mine. I guess my point was jut to share with you how I felt worse on lamictal but also wanted to encourage you to maybe tough it out and see if it gets better with an increase (if your pdoc feels that's appropriate). Good luck.
AnneMarie
Hey Ruttentud, Did someone from your pdoc's office get back to you yet? How are you doing now?

bootyj
pdoc didnt call but im seeing my tdoc tomorrow as well as on thursday. she's going to try to get ahold of the pdoc for me also. Lamictal did nothing for me, I was on Effexor for about a year, started to feel better, was weaning off Effexor and going on Lamictal at the same time, I cried non-stop for days at a time, sleept all the time, I had to go back to a AD, I am on Pristiq and feel better than I have in a long time (not 100% but much better)
N&P
Lamictal holds NO AD effects for me. In fact, if I take it in the morning, I tend to run flat or teary. Taking it around 6pm seems to help with evening onset anxiety but that's about it except for the mood stabilizing effects.
debiz
I'm all the way up to 600mg of Lamictal (for the SECOND time) and it's doing nothing for me. Lithium made me get hypothyroidism and caused too many side effects for me to stay on it. Those are really the two front runners for mood stabilizers so I'm screwed. I can't take anti-psychotics because they all cause terrible tremors. I'm also on Prozac which is doing nothing either. I've been trying different combos since 2005 with no relief. I'm feeling pretty hopeless right now.
frog
ruttentud, did you feel like this before you took the Lamictal? I'm asking because I had a bad experience with an anticonvulsant (valproic acid - though personally I do well on generic Lamictal) and the FDA warns about a suicide risk for anticonvulsants. ruttentud
Hmmm i'm not really sure. Another question though...I'm at 200mg now and stopped taking my Abilify a few days ago. I've realized I have no sex drive. I'm 19...SO. Is it the lamictal or just the Abilify and I have to wait a while? It's terrible.
fuchsia groan
I'm also suffering a libidoectomy. Asked pdoc about it, she says she's never heard of Lamictal having sexual SEs, and blames one/both of my other meds.
Generica
Hey Ruttentud, hope you're doing OK. I just wanted to chip in - I got more depressed titrating up on Lamictal, until I reached that 'sweet spot' - in my case 150 and now 200mg. The depression came in spurts with each dose increase, I was really worried Lamictal wasn't the thing for me. Now that it works though it's great. I have taken both Lamictal & the generic, no difference for me but understand this is not the case for others. And sex drive? Forget it in my case.
