Nervous about Cymbalta

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine just died from cirrhosis, he was only 38 years old, he was a heavy drinker, never took any meds, he never drank himself till getting drunk he just like to drink a lot on the weekends.

He had no idea he had cirrhosis. He had some symptoms two weeks ago, and went to doctor a few days later and found out and it was too late.

anyway with my OCD and now taking all these drugs

Luvox

Topamax

Cymabalta

Klonopin

Tylenol No.3

I just started taking cymbalta a month ago as far as i know my last blood tests showed my liver was great, but i heard cymbalta has a habit of being really bad to your liver is that true? with my OCD i dont know if I can take cymbalta without worrying now?

does anyone know how safe cymbalta really is? I am not a heavy drinker but do like to social drink maybe 1- 2 times a week at dinner and parties and i take tylenol No.3 6-7 times a week for my migranes

not sure if i should keep taking it?

are there any statistics about cymablta causing cirrhosis?

Tannor, you can certainly check on that question, and you can search this forum to see if anyone has commented in the past. I don't think Cymbalta is any harder on the liver than other crazymeds. When I was on it, my doctor checked my liver function twice a year. I drink a glass of wine every day, but I rarely drink more than that one glass. If you are moderate in your drinking and continue to see your doctor regularly, I doubt that you will have a problem.

If you are that concerned, why don't you take up this issue with your pdoc and GP? That might be more reassuring to you.

Thanks I guess I should...I just wonder if docs will just blow it off...many times they do becuase they think my OCD is causing me to worry about it and not take me serious
