livin-it-up&down
Hi everyone. I am diagnosed with Bipolar I Dx. I was diaganosed 9 years ago at the age of 15. I just recently came off of Tegretol which I had been on off and on since my diagnosis. It was no longer working for me and it was impossible to increase it anymore without taking an even bigger risk of liver damage. I came off tegretol many times in the past and never did well (abilify, risperdal, topomax, trileptal, seroquel, etc. all on top of some type of anti depressant), so I was very very scared when coming off of tegretol. My doctor put me on Lithium, got my dosage up to 900 and started titrating me off tegretol. Not nearly as bad as I though but definately not symptom free, but hey I had much more symptoms when on tegretol alone then I do now. Once tegretol was out of my system he added lamictal, that was just 3 weeks ago, I am at 50 mg right now, suspect it will go higher. I also take synthroid 100 mg for a hypothyroid. I work in the mental health field as a case manager for severe and persistent mentally ill clients, in other words, clients who have spent many years of their lives in state psychiatric facilities. The program i work at gives these clients the opportunity to live in the community while receiving intensive services and support. Everyday I hope and pray that my illness never progresses that far, no one would ever want to live the life my clients live. Most people wouldn't want to live the life you and I live either, but hey it could be worse. I am married to my highschool sweetheart. It will be 2 years in June. We bought a house last June and we have 2 adorable dogs to fill it, the kids will come soon. I am excited to be a part of this community and I hope that I can get a lot out of it and put a lot into it!
olga
Hello, and welcome to Crazyboards. I'm glad you found us and it sounds like some of the discussions about meds might be helpful to you. I know it's fun to play with the colors and sizes of the fonts, but you have young eyes and some of us are 30 years older than you....so could you make your font just a teensy bit bigger? I really do like to read most of the posts here, and I'm a pretty active member, but my eyes aren't so good with the small print. Take a peek at our rules when you get a chance---they're not very complicated. We have a blog section if you enjoy blogging, and a chat room, too. I hope you enjoy your stay with us. olga

livin-it-up&down
PhoenixRising.... Thanks.... My life is rich at times and other times it can be miserable when the mania takes over. I try to live each day to the fullest though and stay positive. Mayleana.... Thanks! I am excited to be here! Mrsmaz76... My job is very fullfilling and it really does give me a different view on my own illness. I see the worst of the worst, it is sad, but it is also great to be able to see them living outside of the hospital setting. I hope I can offer a lot of insight. I also hope to be able to get a lot out of it!
