batty1 Posted March 23, 2009 Share Posted March 23, 2009 Hi! Newbie here. I started Pristiq two weeks ago. My anxiety has gotten real bad lately. Been off of meds two years I've been having some issues and wondered if other Pristiq users have this? I started taking it at night. It was keeping me awake. Then I switched to the am and now I am getting spacey and tired during the day. I also have been having loose stools alot in the morning from this. Now to day I have to admit I felt awful flu like yesterday. So today I took only 1/2 the pill. My mood is better but the loose stools started. So I think I have my answer. I am suppose to give it till next week. But the office said I would know by the end of this week. So now I have been on most AD's and have always had bad reaction. I really feel its because its just too high of doses. The only ones that don't give me more IBS issues are the tricylics. May have to ask the doc to put me back on a low dose of that again or just use Xanax. This is why I hate medicines. I am just that darn sensitive since the gallbladder removal in 1997. What to do? Batty1 I had trouble sleeping with it the first few weeks and then it went away, I was on Effexor for about 1 yr (then I thought I was all better, tried to go off AD's all together, went crazy briefly),then my Dr gave me Pristiq to try, I have been on it for about 5 months now and I really do feel good, no side effects (have not gained away, havent lost any either). lauralee Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 so, i was put on Pristiq for depression and anxiety. i see from reading here, seems like it's affected everybody differently. into my 2nd day, i got chills so bad and still have them. batty1 Posted March 26, 2009 Author Share Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks for your advise but... I have had this issue with IBS and its diarrhea related since gallbladder removal in 1997. Too much fiber not good. Too many fruit and veggies not good! Wellbutrin made me have to go to the bathroom too much and made me feel angry and hyper and my heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest. There is nothing I can do but take a cholesterol medicine to bind the bile that dumps into my system now. Diarrhea is controlled with this. I also take a blood pressure medicine. It took many to find one with out side effects to affect my life as well. I called my doc on Monday and let him know what was going on. They told me to take the Pristiq every other day to see if the days I don't take it, if the diarrhea is a problem. Well the days I haven't taken it like today NO DIARRHEA!!!! So I guess on Monday I will let him know. I can't leave my house in the mornings with extra diarrhea to work. This is part of my anxiety issues right now as well as the need to find a job right now because hubby might loose his. This has added to my anxiety as well. In fact I had been off of all meds for 2+ years doing pretty darn good. But I was not working more than 2 hours a week outside the house. Now I have this stress added and I fell apart. I am going back to talk therapy. Its free at our university in my area. I can't go back to a shrink because I can't afford it now. And I don't trust any of the psych docs in my area. They are more crazy then their patients. I have been dealing with my GP who understands the whole gallbladder removal issue since his wife has the same problem. Guess I will have to go back to an old AD like a tricyclic and hope I don't balloon up. These were the only ones that didn't give me more diarrhea issues.
