MissBeatrice
For the past 3 or so weeks, Seroquel has not been helping me sleep at all. I'm taking 50mg. The other traitor, Cymbalta, would not let me stay asleep because I get crazy night sweats so I have to lower the temperature to stop it then raise it again because it's too cold. I take only 60mg of Cymbalta but the side effects are so inconvenient. I don't even want to get started on what happens to me when I miss a dosage. I also get panic attacks every so often, can't breathe, numbing fingers, and so on and so forth. Sorry, I just really had to complain. My pdoc cannot be reached for comment (as usual). tryp
Hey, About the Seroquel - the first time I took 50 mg for a couple of nights, it worked like a charm. Then, when I went back to it a few months later, nothing. I called pdoc and she told me to keep bumping up the dose until it made me sleep, as long as I stayed under 200 (which is apparently considered the max dose that is okay for insomnia). So I tried 25, 50, 100, 150 and 200, and it turns out that only 150 mg makes me sleep. Nothing above, and nothing below. For lots of people, tiny doses of Seroquel are perfect for sleep, but some of us need a different dose. Might be something to talk to pdoc about. Also, even if the Seroquel is no good anymore, there are tons of other possibilities. If you can't sleep because you're too anxious, you might want to consider trying a benzo (Ativan, Klonopin etc.). There's also the z-compounds (Ambien, Lunesta, Imovane etc.) and a couple of anti-depressants you can take at a very low dose - trazodone or remeron - that will knock you out. I'm sorry to hear about the panic attacks and the Cymbalta crap, though - sounds like you've got a lot of aggravation going on. Good luck getting a hold of your pdoc. Alpam
My experience with Seroquel is that I have developed a tolerance over the years. I started with 12.5mg a night and that lasted for ages but eventually I had to go up to 25mg a night. The 25mg worked for about half a year untill I had to go up to 50mg which lasted a few months. I then went to 100mg which lasted about a month then 150mg lasting a couple of weeks, 200mg had no greater effect but as I got up to 300mg a night it started working again. I have been on 300mg for a few months now and it's the dose I need. I have been lucky with Seroquel, nothing else will put me out (except remeron which will want to make me sleep 24 hours a day). MissBeatrice
I tried increasing my seroquel to 75mg and it made me sleep until noon. I'll try to get a hold of my pdoc and if I can't contact her til the end of next week I'm looking for another one. Thanks for the help y'all! Swamp56
You doctor might want to try increasing the dosage. Note that the saturation point for the drowsiness is at 200mg. I'm glad you were able to sleep while on 75mg . try having to stay awake while taking 400mg twice per day >.> . seraphina
I take 100mg during the day and 400mg at night. Usually I can slowly drift off to sleep at night once I take my seroquel. It's nice because it makes me feel like I've been up for a few days straight and then I relax and sleep. The only downside is when I am manic even if I take my seroquel it has zero effect on me, I can still stay up for days.
quiet storm
I was up to 400mg at one point when I was really in the crapper but I never slept any better than I did when I was just on 50-100mg for sleep(I currently take 50mg with lunesta). I feel ya with the sweating on cymbalta. When I was on it(120mg) I sweated at night like a one legged man at an asskicking contest. I was having to wash the sheets every few days. Chrmd
Does anyone take alot of seroquel and you can't sleep. I take 800 mg per night along with 4 benadryls and this is what my Psych told me to do and I can stay awake for hours. It just doesn't do anything for me. She said someone on that dosage at 145 lbs should be basically in a coma.
Savannah
Ask about taking Rozerem. It was a wonder drug. I have been taking 500mg of Seroquel for the last 15 years and it doesn't put me to sleep.

nancycarol
I take 200 mg of Seroquel in the AM and 800 at night plus 10 of Ambien and a couple of Trazodone just for fun. I have never heard of Rozerem. Is it new? I have been without alcohol for a week now and I am so manicky. Valium doesn't touch it. I just keep thinking that a couple glasses of wine would make me feel so much better.
Iceberg
What about another sedating AP?
mcjimjam
I found tolerance builds to the sedating effect eventually.
Savannah
I can't sleep after 15 years of 600mg Seroquel. Now I also take 200 mg of Trazadone and a supplement called Kava Forte. My pdoc is very into natural treatments. Kava Forte has to be sold by a Dr although I have seen it for sale on Amazon.
