"Medication is about relieving whatever it is that ails you -- suicidal depression, mania, psychosis, whatever. The decision about what medication to take needs to be based on what will most effectively treat you, not on selecting side effects (with few exceptions)."

What about when your med is worsening your depression and also bringing on a side dish of hypomania, which you had never experienced before without being on an anti-depressant? Flouxetine 30mg. Fucking help me out here guys. I've already posted on the Anti-Depressants forum, I posted a few replies on the Bipolar Spectrum Disorder forum cos I'm worried that I'm manic so yeah. I'm ever so miserable and this is the only thing I can think of. Myself. Oh god, I bloody hate myself. Blah, I'm definitely not manic right now. Definitely just worsened depression. Oh fuck, I'm rambling. Just tell me why SRRI's bring on mania, pls. and worsen depression

Hey,

How long have you been on the Prozac for? Because with a lot of anti-depressants, things get worse before they get better, and it can take a few weeks for side effects to settle down and good effects to kick in.

On another note, what makes you think you're hypo/manic? Because if there's a chance that you are, and this is a new symptom for you, you need to call whoever prescribed you the prozac and get them to evaluate you. If they think you actually are hypo/manic, they'll probably pull you off the med and probably push your treatment in a different direction.

Okay, I looked up your previous posts, and you said you've been on the prozac for about 2 months. Have you noticed any improvement at all, or are things just as bad? Because you're starting to reach the window where you might need a new med, but you might want to wait just a bit longer.

But I stand by my assessment that if you think you're hypo/manic, you need to call your pdoc or get your parents to call.
