netsavy006
What are the chances of developing increased cholesterol from Zyprexa and what are the chances of developing diabetes from Zyprexa? I would stop taking it now but I can't as I have and it's made my bipolar worse. I need to continue taking it despite these risks. That's why I would like to truly know the odds of developing these conditions. Thanks...
AirMarshall
From the PI sheet... Hyperglycemia: between 1/100 to 1/1,000 Hypercholestimia: between 1/100 to 1/1,000 My calculations Chances of gettting both: 1/10,000 to 1/1,000,000 (one chance in 1 million) You probably have a better chance of being killed in a car accident traveling to/from the pharmacy to pick up your prescription. a.m.
Silver
Also - look at your family history. The risk is modifiable. Diet. Exercise. Everyone rolls their eyes when they hear this. I don't know why; they work quite well. Hyperlipidemia unto itself doesn't equal heart attack risk, by the way. Talk to your GP. If you're concerned about your risk for diabetes and increased lipids, then do the things you can do in terms of lifestyle to improve those odds. By happy coincidence, those same behaviors are helpful for lots of other things. Win-win situation.
