jessabella
this may seem dumb, but is a longer half life betetr than a short one? I think taking 3x a day of benzo a longer one is better is this correct to think this? I was on 3x klonopin, trying xanax xr, it is ok but i don't feel liek it helps my anxiety ,cuh it makes me feel warm adn nice but not able to drive alone . and if they move the dose I'm afraid i wont be able to tolerate it as i cannot the instant ones. so I wnat back on klonpin, i am thiking of seeing if i can try 0.5 1mg 0.5 a day because afternoones i have the most issues adn this drugged FREED me i could drive alone etc. I just had tireness and it felt liek it sttarted wearing off before the other pill was due otherwise this was like ideal best one I've tried. that is why they tried the xanax xr. So long questiojn typed bad, baby on lap. but am i write to think a longer one is better when taking 3x daily? thankas!!!
andrea3821
I can't say what may be better than something else as I haven't tried anything but lorazepam and don't know much about the others. For me, 1mg of Ativan has a noticeable "downer" effect on me, enough that I shouldn't drive after having taken it. You need to watch out for that (you say Klonopin freed you to drive alone and then you say you had tiredness...this puts you AND OTHERS at risk). Anyway, it does noticeably calm me down after maybe an hour. What exactly are you trying to control with the benzo, GAD or panic disorder? Hopefully someone else can explain the half-life thing to you. Your post just struck me and I felt I should respond with what I do know. I think you would get more responses if you used better grammar/typing.
jessabella
panic disorder wiht agorophobia. itake lexapro for the ocd and gad. I get tired for like the first half hour after i take it. I wouldnt drive if i felt that out of it lol. that is what xanax quick actign did to me made me so i coulndt fdirve i was like drunk. and the temi release gave me migrain from hell! too bad thought it smothed out my moods. but the klonpin works really works for te4h panic adn anticipatory anxiety. chimpmaster
Benzodiapenes with a longer half life have some definite advantages over those with a shorter half life. A good example is my experience with diazepam and alprazolam. My psychiatrist and I estimated that with xanax, _I was experiencing multiple mini withdrawals each day - after a couple of hrs the downer is quite harsh. On diazepam i dont have this problem though. Admittedly I have somehow got through the past 3 weeks without any valium, but even so I need it sometimes. SO to answer your question, the longer half life of drugs like valium and klonopin makes them smoother acting. Xanax XR is very different from Xanax however. Can someone else discuss the xanax xr half lives please?
