There exists for IP gallery software that would keep people who regularly upload pics from having to use photobucket. It incorporates your images into your profile the way blogs are now and makes it easy to link to images in posts and blog entries.

One person has expressed interest.

It's $65 up front and then $30 a year for security support and updates.

If anyone wants this, donate and put "for the gallery" in the extra information part of the donation form.

Here's what it looks like in use with the new (unreleased) version of IPB

So, could our galleries be private like our blogs?

I'm assuming that would be as a whole. The $65 would be easy enough, I guess it would be the ongoing cost. Maybe we should set an amount, like $100, so we make sure we have enough for a year or two before we get it?

If, say, 20 people want it then $5 is easy enough to donate. I'm happy too.

It would be much easier to not have to use photobucket all the time.

I'm wondering about privacy too.

Yep, I'll kick in $25 if it's only $65 a year for all of us to use it. And I would like the privacy thing explained, too. If we can have public or private galleries, that's good. If we can have some pix private and some public, that's good, too.

ooh- fun :) sounds great to me.

have already started making a list in my head of what I would put up..

(note: this from the photo-geek)

when I'm more than one paycheck into work (first one after 2 months coming in the mail now, thank dog.) I'll donate what I can but I can't promise much now ;) anyway, it sounds great.

ps- oh boy, as if I don't spend enough time here, haha.

I really miss

The Springer forum,

It had a sense of community

that blogs do not,

And chat,you gotta be there.

I developed many friendships,

some more personal than others.

The Springer always has something

going on, as many of us

crazies know.

just my opinion

That sounds cool, but I unfortunately cannot afford to donate. Poor student. Sorry!!! I can throw in a couple of bucks, even though it won't help much!

My biggest concern would be that y'all might not be able to get people to donate enough each year... although I guess $30 a year isn't too bad.

I agree with bluelikejazz that y'all should set an amount like $100, just so you can ensure you have enough for the next year.
