sdjeff Posted April 29, 2009 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Well, here I am again. I take a lot of pills. Lots. Here's the problem: Part of my combo, Nardil, Morphine and Lortab is a bit dangerous. My gdoc wants to increase my pain meds because my pain is getting even worse. He thinks that by increasing my pain meds I'll be on the couch less and be more active. I can readily assure you that will not be me. I cannot take any other AD but Nardil. I've been on 'em all. Nothing works but MAOIs. And they hardly work. Now, If I get my narcs increased there is a slight chance I could be killed and a less than slight chance I could wind up in a coma. Not fun. But I cannot do anything else about my increasing pain. I've been through every test and treatment there is for somebody in my situation. So as I see it, I quit my AD and work on my pain, or I stay mostly couch-ridden and stay on my AD and out of the nut hut. I dunno. Just had to get this out. Littlewing Posted April 29, 2009 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Oh Jeff man, that blows! That's not much of a choice, is it? Constant pain is a nightmare, I know. I don't suffer nearly as badly as you, but that in itself could easily push me into the nut hut. Is it possible that your pdoc and gdoc could discuss this in a meeting with you and maybe between the three of you, you could find some sort of compromise or middle ground? There HAVE to be more options than that, surely??? I really hope that there are. Don't have any answers, just wanted to say I sympathise. Unfortunately a meeting in person would be impossible. pdoc is downtown and gdoc is way out in the suburbs. Both have snubbed the idea of a conference call. I'm so sorry you have to make that choice. My father has had all kinds of pain issues (chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia (before they had a name for it)/crushed vertebrae) and has been on 6 million kinds of pain pills. He took so much oxycontin he about killed his liver. So I know but a taste of what you are going through. Oh, yeah, he was suicidal too. Took lots of mental meds too. I've already gone the rounds with ECT and while it worked while I was receiving it, Eventually it had to end and the world sucked again. Plus I'd have to go off of Depakote and Topamax, since they inhibit seizures and that's the whole point of ECT. It's a controlled Grand Mal seizure. Being off those w ould be bad bad bad. I think I might try increasing the pain meds, increasing the morphine and keeping the lortab. I'll start in the day cause I'll know pretty much right away if there will be a problem. That and tattoo 911 to the back of my hand. My pdoc said my best chance was to stay away from the synthetics like Oxycontin and so on and stick with naturals like morphine. Is there a pain clinic in your area? Maybe that is an option you might be able to into... From what I understand, they work with you better because they're better equipped to deal with chronic pain. But maybe that is just the oen they want to put me on. I hope you get some relief soon! or they find a middle ground. Before I got pregnant I was on a ton of vicodin, and I actually became immune to it, so now i Need stronger meds, in order to get relief. so I can relate. Oh yeah. the only pain clinic is 2 hrs away by freeway and not only am I terrified of freeways but all my docs agree we've done pretty much done mostly what your average clinic would try.
