Rude Girl
I take risperidone as needed, up to twice a day. Right now I appear to be stable enough that I don't really take it much at all. But I notice as soon as I do take it that I'm suddenly ravenous. And even after I eat a full meal, I don't feel anywhere near satisfied. Now, I know that risperidone can cause weight gain and appetite increase (thankfully I don't take it every day!), but had anyone else noticed their appetite suddenly increase dramatically about 10-15 minutes after the pill goes down? beetle
I just started Risperdal. It's only been a few days. So far none of the apatite increase stuff. If anything I feel maybe a little less hungry than usual. I take 1mg (soon to be 2mg) right before bed with an ativan. So, maybe the ativan knocks me out and I sleep through the munchies? Have you tried taking your risperdal with a meal? Or take it right before you were going to eat anyway.
fuchsia groan
I was on it for a while and it never affected my appetite or weight at all. It's supposed to be one of the better AAPs that way. But everyone's different...
Rude Girl
I've tried taking it with meals, and I'm still so damn hungry...I don't really overeat when I take it, it's just that the feeling of hunger even though I know my belly's full is annoying. I've given up trying to understand it--a quarter of a milligram makes it easier to deal with the irrational emotions, so I'll just deal with the bizarro hunger when I have to. Anelize
It didn't start effecting me right away, but now, a couple of months into it, the hunger and carb cravings are almost as bad as what I experienced with Seroquel. I hate it.
