Guest cx_frez
Has anyone used haldol and or thorazine. What exact behavior - if I may ask - did these drugs "fix". Why did you end up using them. Were they temporary fixes? Was there a hospitalization involved. thank you very much.
blackbird
I take 3mg of Haldol in conjunction with 20mg Zyprexa for treatment resistant psychosis (which is part of schizoaffective disorder). I find some help with Haldol but 3mg is a baby dose. I can't go any higher as it stops my periods and I am at risk for osteoporosis. I would love to take a higher dose. I'd love to be on depot Haldol 10mg a day. (depot as my mother would never administer 10mg of Haldol, it was a fight to get the 3mg and she is already talking of cutting it back and if I had depot she wouldn't have to know about it and 10mg because I think the severity of my symptoms warrants this amount). Thorazine gives me palpitations. blackbird x
Generica
Thorazine for bipolar mixed episode - agitation, psychosis and suicidal thoughts. Snapped me out of it straight away. I was not hospitalized, I took it at home before bed and had a great sleep. I think I took 50mg. I took it because I had a very old and old-fashioned psychiatrist who would not prescribe the more modern drugs. I was very scared to take it because it was an old school med and I considered it a chemical straightjacket. However, it was the right thing at that time. I am not sure how it would have been long term as I shortly afterwards changed to a more modern psychiatrist who put me on other meds instead.
