Duelist
So I am a 40 year-old mom of a 12 year old with autism and seizure disorder. I have been lurking awhile and just decided to take the plunge and jumped in. I hate being bipolar II and having anxiety along with PSTD from a motorcycle accident close to twenty years ago. I nearly died and struggle to get through each day. It was worse earlier this year when my insurance (med part D) stopped covering my abilify and I had to go through a med trial on another med and since I had already tried Risperdal and failed due to side effects on it, one more med trial was all I needed and trial it was. Man I know some people swear by Seroquel but it did little for my racing thoughts and anxieties/mental stressors whereas the abilify does. It's been a life saver for me, I also take lorazepam as needed and the new pdoc, (yup had to go through that too this year-stunk but therapists and doctors move around just like anyone else does) wants me off the lorazepam and rx'd Buspar. So hopefully it'll work for me. I post on a couple other support boards but I feel I needed to post here too. I like the atmosphere and the people all seem very kind and knowledgable. You guys are GREAT!

tryp
Hey, Glad you got your Abilify back. I like Seroquel, personally, but that's just me. I have PTSD too. Welcome to CB - hope you like it here as much as I do. Tryp

mudpuppy
Heya. I also had no luck with Seroquel. Didn't do shit for any of my PTSD symptoms, and the side effects were crappy. I am glad you're working out your meds. I just recently found a med that seems to be helping- tho it's very early to know for sure. Welcome aboard. LunaRufina
Hiya! I know I'm a little late to the party, but welcome. Med trials are difficult and I hope things are working out for you now- if they arent [or even if they are] you can always come here and talk about it. We know what you're going through. I tried seroquel and it did nothing for me and made me so lethargic people literally were dragging me around because I couldn't really move. But some people swear by it, so I think it's a good med, just not for us, I guess. But abilify? Yay abilify! I've been on it for a while and it's helped with a lot of stuff. I'm thinking of going off of it because it might be creating some issues, too, unfourtunately, but overall I love it so I hope I can stay on it. Insurance companies are random and difficult like that- you have to try this medication and this medication and standing on your head while blowing bubbles first because that's what their little chart says the "appropriate" treatment is. Anyway. Let us [mods or admins] know if you need anything or have any questions. Just pm one of us. We also have blogs and a chat if you're interested. Hope you like it here! Duelist
Thanks Luna! I am feeling better on abilify again, but not overall. I just feel bad from situational BS. I just posted about it here. Kind of having a hard time at the moment. I really appreciate your kind words though, sorry abilify is creating problems for you, I came close to pre-diabetes and am working hard to lose weight and hopefully avoid that scenario. Thanks again!
