Cuttlefish
So, I've looked through a lot of Yahoo searches trying to find out how to go about setting up an animated desktop background on my computer, and I couldn't find anything particularly useful. This computer has Windows Vista Basic, Intel integrated X3100 graphics, and 3 gigs of RAM, so I don't think it would be hindered too much by an animated background. No demanding games are played on this computer (but they are played on my laptop with the 8600M GT videocard ) So how do I get swimming fish or a thundering waterfall as my desktop background? (Is it sad that I like Vista because I like problem solving?) Thanks!
darkthorn
Now, I've gotten this from my techie friend, so if it doesn't work, don't blame me I can't test it as I don't use Vista (I hate it, and my laptop is too old to run it nicely). Windows DreamScene if you're using Vista Ultimate (but you're not, but for future reference ). Use ActiveDesktop or Web Desktop (something like that) to set a webpage as your background. The webpage has the GIF as its background or Flash animation set to the same size as your desktop. In plain-ish English: Just find the animation you want on the web, using google search, then open it by itself in a webpage, and apply it using the Dream Render program from EDIT: the webpage I linked before was not what I thought it was. Just google DreamRender, should be able to find something. Does that make sense?
bluelikejazz
I tried that once years ago on my parent's pc and got them a nasty virus. It took me two hours to get rid of it. So just be careful.
nalgas
Active Desktop is the devil, and someone should travel back in time to prevent its creation. Or I should say "was", because it doesn't exist in Vista anymore (praise Jebus). DreamRender does seem to be the most popular free way to have wacky stuff going on on your desktop these days (which would drive me insaneĀ®, but I guess some people are into that sort of thing).
