hollywoodfreaks
So I definitely know that Lithium can cause terrible acne, but I haven't heard many complaints about other drugs except a couple of complaints about Lamictal. I've had acne for over 15 years (genetic) but I've been having awful flare-ups lately, with big, painful red zits. The most recent drug I've switched on to is Cymbalta. I was on a regimen that was keeping my zits at bay, but I just realized that it stopped working after I started Lamictal a couple of years ago. Could that be it? I mean, it could be any number of things, but I thought it was worth asking.
Raquin
Yeah, the only one I can think of listed that can give acne is Lamictal. I've never heard of anyone getting acne on the others, but I could be wrong. Has your diet changed lately or have you been under a lot of stress or traveling? hollywoodfreaks
Thanks, Tinneas. I was traveling recently to a more arid and warm climate and my acne was clearing up then! I suspect that one of the acne medications I use may be aggravating it rather than helping it because it contains mineral oil, but I'm just not sure. My neurologist actually wants me to stop Lamictal because he thinks it is causing balance problems, but my pdoc doesn't. I just lower the dose every once in a while if I start falling and losing my balance (that's a whole 'nother story). Obviously I'll be trying the acne med route before I consider fiddling with my psych meds.
