Hi there!

Recommended Posts

I found this website while trying to find out if I should start taking Paxil or not. It looks like a terrible idea overall to me. But after months of migraine headaches and small panic attacks throughout the year. I had a nervous breakdown after work sunday morning and had to visit the ER(forcefully) as I couldn't talk myself out of this one. Suffice to say, I don't think I'm depressed, just overstressed. My father and roomate passed away a few months ago and I thought I was handling it well til last week. I'm just trying to get my head straight before school starts up in the fall. Because lord knows I can't handle a full class load and working 6 nights a week if I'm not feeling good. Here goes..

Hi. Glad you found us.

I liked paxil. It's generally pretty well tolerated. I'd give it a try. It takes about six weeks to kick in all the way so give it some time.

Ayeyiyi. ER doc told me about a week for it to fully kick in. But he probably just wanted me out of there.

Welcome to CB

I'm not on Paxil, but I'm taking Celexa, which is in the same class. These drugs can be good for anxiety as well as depression, so it might be worth a try. Who knows, you might feel better.

As VE says, these drugs take a long time to work, so if you want to try it, try to commit to at least a 6 week trial.

Hope you stick around.

Hi there welcome to CB!

I agree with VE paxil is a good one, it does take time to work though, up to 6 weeks is the norm. Plus there is the whole dosage increasing, so 10mg may not work but 40mg might work. MI meds need tweaked from time to time, but once it is right you will be much happier.

Paxil is great for anxiety, I am on it right now, I still need a mood stabilizer but my GAD is much better with the paxil.

Hope you stick around CB is a great place for support and advice.
