~nestling~
On another forum, the admin edited the title of one of my threads to make the grammar wrong! It was correct before he edited it! Apostrophes in the wrong place really really irk me. I'm an English lang./ lit. and teaching graduate, with over a decade of teaching experience. I know where apostrophes go! When something belongs to someone, mostly. Not in every word with an 's' on the end! :)
tryp
I'm a lit major, and I'm also a bit of a grammar nazi, so I feel your pain Seen this?
Littlewing
I hate it when people put apostrophes in the wrong places, and for admin to edit your post to make it incorrect must be a complete pain in the ass for you. On one of the other boards I frequent (nothing to do with MI at all), we had an area called "Pedants corner", where we all used to have a whinge about stuff like this! withing
While I'm also a English/Lit major - I'm not a grammar nazi... But I do think that the admin changing your title was wrong. That was way out of line.
Penny Century
Have you read Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss? It's realy funny, and she has a whole great section on apostrophes that's just a riot.

I've also read the rebuttal: The Fight for English: How language pundits ate, shot, and left by David Crystal - another British linguist. It's also funny and very insightful. darkthorn
Why would an admin bother doing that? Most of the time the apostrophe is ignored when people read the sentence anyway. I get frustrated when it's wrong, but it's not like it changes the meaning of the sentence so drastically you can't understand it.
