DarkendHour
So I've had this printer as long as I've had this computer (about 4 years). I have never had a problem with it until now. I can print things no problem... but I can't scan anything. When I try to scan something it says that it is not connected and gives me the steps to take to fix the issue. I've done all the steps lots of times and in every order I could think of. Still not working. How can the printer be connected for printing but not for scanning anyway??? Anyone have any tips on how to make this work? I don't want to have to have geek squad come and fix this for me, that will cost over $50.
celestia
If you have checked all the connections, then I would look at reinstalling the driver for that scanner. I seem to recall having to do that every so often with my scanners of the past. And I always reinstall the drivers for peripherals before I get help that costs money. Try to avoid that, especially of a 4 y.o. Dell. Canon has a nifty all in one right now for about 50 bucks. If it's hosed, you're better off getting a new one. The technology gets better and better and cheaper too.
mudpuppy
Yep. I had the same issue. It went so far that Dell sent me a replacement scanner. Had to completely un-install and then reinstall all the drivers.
DarkendHour
Wow I forgot I had posted this... thanks for the responses. Ok so I will reinstall the driver for the scanner. Umm is that from a disk? I hope not because I haven't the slightest clue where it would be Is there anyway I can get it from a website? I know with any of my Sony products whenever I need to reinstall something I can just get it from their site.
lottacrazy
Yeah if you go to Dell.com, they will have a downloads page you can download drivers from it, only download from real sites like Dell.com other wise you could get a virus or trojans and stuff.
