felnx
I'm going to see my pdoc on monday and I can already tell he is going to push abilify on me. I'm not sure if he is going to add it in, or switch something to it. Personally, I would rather give Lamictal a second try. I remember feeling so happy and energetic on the third day of Lamictal but started to develop anxiety from it so I went off it on the 12th day. What a bummer because it was working so well. Anybody out there on abilify and love it? From what I understand it's one of the more stimulating AAP's so hence helps depression. I'm really not sure what to do here. Push for a second trial of lamictal or try some abilify. -f
recoverymouse
Abilify made me crazy happy for a couple of weeks and, like you describe for Lamictal, I had terrible anxiety after that. I cut the amount down to 5 to 10 from 10 to 20 and things have been better, although I still get anxious. Mostly, the abilify seems to help get me moving rather than moping and obsessing all day... I take it with lithium, effexor, provigil, and neurontin.
Duelist
I have been on abilify for years and am one that loves it, it helped clear up my disorganized thinking since I have a dx of BP II, so it really has been a great med for me. I hope it helps you, but only you can be the judge of that. Good luck!
Panz
I like my abilify, it doesn't seem to stress me much, but gets my brain and butt out of deep depression and seems to stabilize my mood problems...I guess, I'd say its worth a try to see if it works for you. Good luck! Panz
Guest Vapourware
I've found Abilify to be a sensitive drug in my system. When I was on 15mg, it gave me akathesia and activated me in a negative way - it didn't really help my delusional thinking and paranoia. Now that I'm on 7.5mg, it's been very helpful and my delusional thinking and paranoia are gone. In terms of helping depression, I haven't found that it helped at all - in fact, my depression was returning when I was on the higher dosage of Abilify.
