netsavy006
My pdoc on Thursday wanted to switch me from the Valium I'm currently on to Klonopin (don't know the dosage). Can he do that safely? I was skeptical so I said not to but if it's safe i might take him up on the "offer" because according to him it might work better for my panic attacks. gizmo
You posted earlier about not feeling the valium work any more... just to let you know that klonopin is a long acting benzo. It takes longer to kick in than most benzos (up to 1 hour, but generally around 30 minutes in my experience) and lasts 8 hours or so. But you don't really feel that initial kick of relief like you do with traditional short-acting benzos. So when you are taking klonopin and feeling nothing, don't think it's not working. That means it's working exactly as it is supposed to. Make sense?

The Emperor
I switched from Klonopin to Ativan and back to Klonopin without any problems. I think the last poster that said it should be okay as long as the dosage is equivalent is right. I wouldnt' worry about it so much. Let your p-doc know if you are uncomfortable though. Good luck. I love my klonopin, I think it's a good drug.
Ophelia
Can he do that safely? You've questioned your pdoc and his opinions/suggestions/wants more than once. Do you just not trust him? If this is the case, don't you think you need to get a new doctor?
