I'm on it.

To be totally honest, Celexa has made me more anxious. It's been great for my depression, but I need to take Seroquel with it, or it makes me agitated and itchy.

I had really bad sexual side effects on it, too, but the worst of it has gone away with time.

That said, I'm still on it, and it does what it needs to, namely kick my depression to the curb. And I think in some ways, it's been good for my anxiety too, though I pin that mostly on the Squirrel-Q

I started Lexapro (closely related to Celexa) at a time of my life when I was seriously flipped out with depression and anxiety. I was nauseous at first, but then I loved it. The panic attacks stopped, I no longer wanted to die all the time, and I was calm enough to think. But then it pooped out on me sad.gif .

I switched from Prozac to Celexa a few months ago. It was much more effective than the Prozac ever was, though I'm still symptomatic. The side effects aren't terrible compared to the Prozac, which really messed up my stomach.

I stopped taking Celexa for a couple of days because I ran out and my insurnace company was being crappy, and oh my god difference! My anxiety came bacjk full force and everything. I don't care anymore AT ALL that Celexa makes me sick sometimes. TOTALLY WORTH IT to not have that horrible anxiety. GAH.

Are you in the US? The generic, citalopram, is on the $4 list at Walmart, Target, and just about any other chain pharmacy. Just an FYI in case that ever happens to you again.

I've had terrible sexual side effects on celexa, but I also had those side effects on zoloft so I think it's a matter of AD in general and not specifically celexa. Personally I can't stand the side effects. I'm very sensitive to AD so I get withdrawal half an hour after my scheduled dose if I'm late taking it. I get the full brain zaps and everything even half an hour late. I'm in the process of coming off the drug, and I'm almost there. I don't think I'll ever take another SSRI again. But, like I said, I'm highly sensitive to the more negative aspects of these drugs so your experiences may be completely different than mine!

Celexa worked wonders for my anxiety I stopped it too soon I think then plummeted and tried effexor promptly gaining a massive amt of weight if I had to choose I would say for me the Celexa was the best of the two it really was a good drug for me when I could not walk out the door ..the other thing was how fast it worked! I noticed I felt better in a few days then after a week or two was functional

good luck I hope this helps anxiety sucks

PM it wasn't because of the oney it was because for the first month my doc had the rx going up in levels (start off by taking one a day, then two, etc.) and for some reason the pharmacy filled out the second scrip exactly like that, so I ran out before the end of the second month and they wouldn't let me refill it. It was very annoying.

Unfortunately Celexa made me vomit at work yesterday morning. ARGH. I don't know what to do because it's the only thing that seems to work for me, but I can't be feeling sick and vomiting all of the time either.

I have been soo tired since taking this. I started it um, about 5 weeks ago and have felt drained pretty much 24/7 since so I'm thinking its the med. I was tired before but not like this. I've told the dr, but I guess since the anxiety and depression is leveling out he doesn't seem concerned. I started at 10 mg for 2 weeks then up to 20 mg now for the past 3 weeks or so. I can sleep all night like, 7 hours, then get up, drink a few cups of coffee or tea and then go right back to bed for another 5 hours or more. Anyone else feeling like lazy/tired all the time?

I've been taking Celexa since March, and I really like it. No more horrid anxiety, less depression, it's great. Call me odd, but I'm actually enjoying the fact it's reduced my sex drive ;) Of course, YMMV.

I'd also rather be anxiety-free then having a sex drive, it's pretty hard to date when you're anxious as fuck.

Hey there Music05 - How's it going on the Celexa? Good/bad?

I've been on it for years. First started at 80mg which helped me not kill myself, and also helped with OCD symptoms. Was at that does for two solid years, was often sick to my stomach, had migraines, night sweats, crazy vivid dreams, trouble reaching shall we say 'bedroom bliss', and felt kinda out of it all the time. I took myself off of it when I moved to a new city. Ten months off of it, a very bad ten months. Found someone new, put myself back on. But only at 30mg. My OCDs are still under control, depression is up and down, but better. Side effects are much better. Still get a few tummy problems now and then, and the vivid dreams won't let up. Still issues with finding that elusive 'bedroom bliss' but that's a little better too. All in all, I am happy with the Celexa, and wouldn't change to a new drug unless this one seems to poop out. Then I'd probably shift to the next molecule over, Lexipro.
