Hello, I'm angelspeak. I have Asperger's, which I was dx'd with in 1996 at age 25. I also have PTSD and depression, which I have been struggling with since I was 8. I'm a failed musician turned substitute teacher. I still play guitar and piano when my depression isn't too crushing. I write and paint, too, if I can find the motivation, but generally my life is directionless right now. I like exercising, studying foreign languages and my cats. I don't have any friends where I live right now, as making friends when you're a substitute teacher with Asperger's and in your 30's is pretty near impossible.

I guess I'm just looking for a place to hang out and talk about stuff. So, hello and all that.

Angelspeak, welcome to CrazyBoards. It sounds like you've got quite a few issues to deal with in your life!

You're in the right place: we have several members who are also some degree of Asperger's and there are always lively discussions around here concerning autism and Asperger's.

Please PM one of the mods if you need help with something. I hope we can provide you with some support and information.

Hi angelspeak,

Thanks for the welcome, guys. :)

I need to correct something: I wasn't actually dx with AS until 1998--it was in 1996 that I became aware there was a dx that might fit me. Part of my AS is I have terrible memory for my own life events and when I try to recall things, especially chronically, I get things confused easily. I have excellent memory for certain things I see, hear and learn--for example, I need to only look at a map once, and I can remember it forever--but my gereral sense of time really, really sucks. I don't know how I'm as high functioning as I am. Granted, the sad state of my life may suggest i'm actually not very hgih functioning after all. ;)
