XxMidnitexX
I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. for bout 2 years now ive been on 1200mg of lithium daily. my bloodwork comes back normal. well lately my level has been low, but thats because suddenly a couple months ago i started having a reaction to it and throwing up my night doses. morning dose is fine. tried switching it around. taking the higher dose in the morning. tried taking it earlier so i wouldnt have to take it with my other meds. all the same result. my pdoc seems reluctant on taking me off it though. has anyone else had any results like this? pinkiemarie
I vomit occasionally in the morning after taking it, but only if I don't drink milk or eat food beforehand. I've never had any experiences like what you're describing. Your doctor is sure you aren't toxic?
grousemouse
i've yet to barf from taking mine but i've certainly felt really nauseated many times. a stupid question given that you are experienced at taking lithium, but, are you drinking enough liquids with it at night? all that salt sitting in your stomach with no water to dilute it would definitely make you feel ill. just a thought, grouse. AirMarshall
Yes, and I'm going to venture that the ER form is by far the most common prescribed. One of the great advantages of the ER form is the lesser likelihood of nausea and vomiting along with more stable blood levels. Either way I strongly recommend taking lithium with a meal or at least with some food. If you haven't had a blood level check recently, discuss that with your pdoc. Good luck, hope you feel better soon. a.m.
