Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum DSM-5 sub-workgroup report

Recommended Posts

The Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum DSM-5 sub-workgroup is part of the larger Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum, Posttraumatic, and Dissociative Disorders Work Group.

Of note:

They're looking how to subtype OCD, but don't give details.

They're considering whether hoarding should be its own disorder as well as an OCD subtype.

They're discussing whether OCD should remain with the anxiety disorders or whether to put OCD and "OC spectrum disorders" into their own section of the DSM. Or possively to rename "anxiety disorders" to "anxiety and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders".

They're trying to decide whether to keep the distinction between Tourette's and other tic disorders, and also where in the DSM-V to classify tic disorders.

They're looking at whether trichotillomania should have subtypes and a new name, and whether compulsive skin-picking should be included as its own disorder.

Their workgroup is also looking at Body Dismorphic Disorder although they don't say anything concrete about it.

I cant wait to get my hands on it! All news is good news, or at least i hope so. ;)

/offtopic rant

I hate the DSM secretly, my counselor took it out the other day :)

wish i could burn that god-damn book. :)

but non-secretly i like it cuz it makes sense when i'm "with it" and with my ocd i eventually make sense thru analyzing stuff in my life, problem is without my zoloft there is no end to the make sense and analyzing part.

/end rant
