My Zyprexa was just increased from 2.5 mg to 5 mg at night and I'm waking up *really* groggy and not even able to get out of bed, really. Will my body adjust to this and make it easier to start waking up or should I try to take it during the day instead? I go to the pdoc Friday but thought I'd ask.

The grogginess never completely wore off when I was taking it, but helped to take it early in the evening rather than at bed time. It also helped to have the coffee pot on my nightstand, set to start half an hour before I needed to be up.

I found that 10mg of Z was fine for me, but 15 or 20mg produced next day grogginess. My solution was to take it as early as possible (think 6pm or so). It works enought that when I do finally drag my ass out of bed, I actually stay awake for the day.

I was on 10mg Zyprexa a good couple of years ago, didn't find that it made me any more groggy than usual after being on it for around 2 - 3 weeks. But keep in mind that I am not a morning person, needed around 4 alarms minimum before starting any meds. Also it was in a cocktail with 3 other meds (I think).

I have just started on zyprexa, have gone up to 7.5mg over 2 weeks. I am not groggy at all anymore. the first week, though it was only on 2.5mg, I woke up really sedated. But now there is no issue there. Hopefully you will have the same reaction where you 'get used to it'. I hope its settling down by now, for you, anyway.
