Go back on AD?

Recommended Posts

I quit my AD (Celexa) over a month ago. I'm feeling much higher levels of anxiety without it. However, the side effects were effing killing me. Should I start taking it again? Should I look for a different AD? Celexa is the second I've taken (Zoloft was the first) and I had atrocious side effects with both (including the zaps if I took the pill even half an hour late, leaving me to believe that ADs are not an appropriate class of drugs for me. What would you guys do? Would you withstand the sandy vagina and constant zaps to calm the anxiety? Or would you find another way to deal with it?

What does your pdoc have to say about it? I messed around with a few different ones with my gp, and that was a mistake - they don't know what to offer up or how to monitor. Pdoc's have a much better concept on what to prescribe - obviously ;)

Once I got with my pdoc, he knew what to start, at what doses (so often you have to work up to theraputic dose) with careful monitoring. Like when I first went back, i had to see him every 2 weeks for 2 months before graduating to 1x/month and now its 1x/3 months with the statement to call if there's a problem in the meantime. He knows that me and holidays don't mix well.

I also see my tdoc weekly - and its there that i really get somewhere - combo of the 2 is the best thing for me to not go nutso

good luck

take care

sandy vagina laugh.gif that cracked me up.

Anyway, I don't have anything useful to say as, AD's have always made my anxiety worse, there's nothing else about it. Expecially SSRI's and the doctors keep thinking it's a brilliant idea to keep trying dfferent ones, so maybe they won't all give you brain zaps and dry out your lady parts? heh, I don't know, personally, with my kind of anxiety, I'd take a sandy vagina and brain zaps any day over this hell. I'd build fucking sandcastles.

Good luck.

I'd say it's not worth it if you're really sensitive to SSRI withdrawal.

Zaps within an hour? O.o I can be late on a dose as much as 12-16 hours with no ill effects.

I really don't think an AD would be the best option for you.

Have you tried Buspar?

I think you need to take this to the pdoc and discuss it. There are dozens of ADs, and trying 2 isn't even close to sampling all that is out there.

And if an AD is not appropriate for you, the pdoc should be exploring the other options with you.

I tried 4 ADs before I found the one that works for me.
