ChemistryExperiment
I have to eat an exorbanant amount of sodium because my sodium runs low, should I risk the trileptal since its known for sodium issues? I've looked up the studies, dizziness seems common, I already have pretty unbearable dizziness at times, that I'm not sure if its from the topamax, or from an undiagnosed disorder. One of the reasons we are thinking about switching. Would another med be a first choice draft pick being dizziness is such a bad side effect from the Trileptal? I had dizziness before starting the topamax. but I was on a lot of other meds, and have now changed a lot of other meds.. so I don't know if the dizziness is med related or not. I get rashes often. Like I mean once a week. I get a rash. Without lamictal. How would I know if lamictal was causing a rash if I were to try lamictal instead of Trileptal first? Also Lamictal has such a low "get on" speed. How long did it take you to get to a decent dose of lamictal? And how effective was lamictal for you? If you were to pick Trileptal/Lamictal knowing these things, and knowing you mostly stay on the depressive side of things... which would you pick? Now, I have only been on Lamictal and Trileptal for 2 weeks each, but Lamictal was amazing for me and Trileptal was hell. With Lamictal, I saw an improvement in mood after a week. I had no other stated side effects. I did find that it aggravated a heart condition I have, which is why I had to stop it. I'm bummed about that because the drug was downright amazing. Trileptal, on the other hand, made me exhausted (even with taking it at night, I had to have a 3 hour nap every afternoon). It made me extremely dizzy to the point that I was running into walls in my own house. Forget about driving! Oh, and it didn't have any affect on my mood during that time.
