Cuttlefish
So...I use my laptop a lot. The screen shows this. It is striped with streaks and smudges, perhaps from days of sneezing on it and wiping the spew so it wasn't so visible. However, when the laptop is turned off, and the screen is black, the smudges are so very noticeable, streaks going from left to right, top to bottom. When the laptop is turned on, and one color is showing on most of the screen, the lack of quality of the screen is extremely apparent. How would I go about cleaning my laptop's screen? I was thinking maybe baby wipes, but I don't know. I'm hoping there is a cheap, DIY solution for this.
rain_masquerade
My laptop came with a cleany cloth thing. Microfibre cloth, maybe? Any soft cloth should do it. I'd recommend against anything too wet. If you're going to use baby wipes, have a soft dry cloth to dry it afterwards, to prevent streaking. <br>

beetle
I had never cleaned my laptop screen because I didn't know how or what to use. I googled it but still didn't trust the advice. I finally decided to use my microfiber cloth and cleaning spray that I use on my eye glasses. Just a tiny bit sprayed onto the cloth and then I gently wiped the screen with the laptop turned off. It seemed to work very well. Don't know if I should keep using it regularly though. They do sell stuff made for cleaning LCD screens.
Cuttlefish
You can get monitor cleaning wipes. I like them a lot. Read on the package whether they are okay on laptop screens. That's what I use. I went to the local computer store and picked up a box of 50. They're safe for LCDs. Work pretty good too. -Tom I got 50 wipes of these Bausch and Lomb pre-moistened wipes for eyeglasses, and they are also approved for laptops. They worked beautifully, and more importantly, they were cheap! I think they were less than $3. They were in the eye-care section of the general pharmacy area of my local Walmart. It took 5 or so wipes to get rid of all of the gunk off of my screen though. I could probably wipe every 1-2 weeks to keep the appearance maintained now though. Thomas
I've used both the Bausch & Lomb and the Zeiss wipes and both work well. Whenever I clean my glasses, I go ahead and wipe my screen to keep the dust off. Tommy
