EveW
Hi everyone, I was wondering if any of you that has Panic and/or anxiety problems are taking Risperdal. I know it would probably be one of the many other meds you are taking like mine below. Just wondering people's experience with it and if it has helped with anxiety/panic. Thank you
tryp
I take Seroquel, not Risperdal, but they're in the same class, and it's really helped me. Hopefully someone on Risperdal will come along. Just responding so you don't feel neglected Have you tried here?
briefcrossing
Yes, I'm on Risperdal. The psychiatrist wanted to increase it by 1 mg but I decided not too. It reduces the intensity of my thoughts and makes concentration easier. I started on 1 mg for a week then increased it to 2 mg. I was put on it because I was getting faint voices at night. Apparently I was at risk for developing schizophrenia. A couple years later I have been told I have schizoaffective disorder and the hallucinations have got a bit louder with a bit of disorganized speech. I actually tried to get off it twice, but I started to get depressed, with lots of really rapid mood swings. I got so confused I reduced my medication without telling my doctor, increased it, then decreased and then increased it again in the space of a week. I just couldn't decide whether I wanted to be on it or not. I wouldn't recommend doing this, I think it stuffs up the brain chemistry. After doing this I experienced a lot of ambivalent thoughts. Sometimes I change my opinion on a subject a couple times in a day. I'm also on Lexapro for the obsessional part of OCD, which I think is a much safer and better drug.
