Panz
I have an appointment with the county nurse practitioner next week and I am TRYING to find some magical mix of meds that will keep me from chewing the paint off the wall. She put me on Zyprexa last time and maybe the dose is too low, but it doesn't really do anything. I need some thing to keep my mood/emotion swings from changing every ten minutes and beating me up. What about Lithium...it sounds less scary to me than the newer meds. Any advice or info on Lithium and Borderlines would be welcome
sun_zoom_spark
Panz- Lithium is usually used for BP1 and not for cycling Bipolar2 type symptoms. But after saying this I must confess I have been taking Lithium for a year now and I was originally diagnosed BP2/BP1 (they really couldn't tell). It could work. Just depends on your flavor of nuttiness.
wifezilla
How many mg of zyprexa are you taking? Hubby can go as low as 5mg when he is stable, but takes 15-25mg when he is wanting to "chew paint off the walls". When he took lithium, he was an emotional zombie. Now he is on a zyprexa/lamictal cocktail. So far so good, but he needs to tritate up a bit yet.
Guest 7-unlogged
I've read here that ultradian cycling as well as rage are helped by Topamax. That sounds the closest to your kind of symptoms, so maybe it might be a better choice? Just hazarding a guess.
GroovyGwen
I'm BPII and when I was on lithium, effexor and neurontin I was pretty good mood wise. Counter balanced the mania I got with the effexor and didn't make me a zombie like high doses of the neurontin. I gotta recommend Lamictal, even though the freaking titration SUCKS. A little lift with stability is great. (Sounds like a bra - "Lift and separate your moods with one easy pill!!" OOOOOO Victoria Secret Meds!! I am a marketing genius!!)
