LilacOutsideMyWindow
Sorry, no achy legs here - got some akathisia and a whole lot of EPS shaking going on (w/Cogentin to tame the tremors) but no aches, in legs or else where. Could you be having akathisia and walking more, and increased movement causing aches later? Taking enough calcium/magnesium/potasium?
SashaSue
I think most of the AAP's, including Abilify, can cause muscle aches. It's not the most common side effect, I don't think, but it happens.
LittleBlueP
Okay, so ever since I started abilify, (and im only at 3mg which knocks me out) my legs have been aching pretty badly. anyone else get this? I was on abilify for more than a year. I had leg muscle aches/tension for a while and then it got worse and I start having involuntary muscle spasms too. It happened whenever I was really tired. I though that I had RLS, but then it started in my arms as well. I was prescribed sleeping pills that calmed my body and let me sleep. Without the additional meds to calm it the achy-tension and muscle spasms drove me nuts. I would be up all night pacing, thrashing and crying from discomfort...and it caused a few anxiety attacks as well. I came off of abilify because of other side effects months later, and it wasn't until I saw some of the more recent commercials that warn about the involuntary muscle movements(that can become permanent) that I connected it as a side effect. The aches, tension and spasms started shortly after I went onto Abilify and stopped about the same time I came off it. I have since then had the same symptom on a lesser scale while on other anti-psychotics.

I don't take any vitamins (I know...tsktsk) and have been too tired to exercise much. Its definetly not muscle pain, but kind of like someone is clenching my legs. its not comfortable. I'm definetly having the akathisia, so the fact that I'm really tired and have all this energy in my legs drives me "nutso"(lol)
xogroverxo87
I started taking Abilify about 3 weeks ago and I am running into the same problem. It's to the point where I wake up at all times of the night and cannot get comfortable. It's like I have to keep moving otherwise they hurt. I shake my legs all the time just to get them t stop hurting. I'm on 20mg of it and it's to the point where it's soooo uncomfortable I cant stand it.
