Alpam
I am writing this mostly out of interest but I was wondering if there is a cross tolerance between benzodiazepines and Olanzapine as to quote the PI "ZYPREXA (olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic that belongs to the thienobenzodiazepine class." I have been on Valium then Clonazapam for a while now and have built up a pretty strong tolerance towards benzos. When I started Zyprexa I found it really did not do that much for me and the sedation was minimal. So is there any relationship between benzodiazepines and thienobenzodiazepines? ehygon
Sodium is a metal which reacts with water explosively. Chlorine is a green gas that will kill you. Together, they form table salt. I have doubts zyprexa and benzos have any cross tolerance, at all. I was on 15mg zyprexa for a few months, and never experienced much sedation. Then again, that's my personal experience, and I know there are probably a dozen people who will see this topic and remember that zyprexa sucked near every last drop of energy out of them, and that 16 hours of sleep a day was not near enough. That being said, good on you for being curious I think it's a good thing when people make themselves aware of what's going on in their body, and not leaving it entirely to a doctor who gives you 15 minutes of his day every so many weeks. sorrel
There is no cross-tolerance. Some people are just not sedated that much by APs. Keep in mind also, that sedation is separate from the therapeutic effect. Just because you are not sedated does not mean the drug isn't working.
