remedy48
Well firstly I've never been on abilify but I can tell you a bit about it. Instead of antagonizing the dopamine receptors in your brain the abilify acts as a partial agonist.
mudpuppy
How long were you on celexa? Is it possible you're experiencing withdrawal syndrome from such abrupt discontinuation?
Anna
Yeah, I'm BP and abilify does NOT play well with my brain. Like, catastrophically not. It sends me into immediate and flagrant mania, after about two doses. It doesn't work for everybody in bipolar, and to top it off, topamax isn't really a valid mood stabilizer for most people. Add an AD on top of that..... not so surprising. You sound like you need a bit of a med overhaul. Depakote is good for rapid cycling, particularly. Or, you could look at lithium, or something like that.... A less activating AAP than abilify might also help you chill out, fast. Those would include seroquel, zyprexa, or risperdal. NOT geodon..... Moody
just 2mg of Abilify made me start rapid cycling, and I am not normally a rapid cycler. It was scary. I finally convinced my pdoc to try something else, I take Risperdal now and I like it a lot. I feel pretty stable, no mood swings or mania/depression.
